NBA 2K shot release timing
Green and Going
Hold Space — or press and hold the court, or any face button on a controller — and release at the set point, 560 ms in. The window is 50 ms wide, so you need ±25 ms.
Shot meter
Training wheels. In-game, turning it off widens your real green
window — so the animation is what you learn to read.
Visual cue
Which moment of the animation the green window sits on, the same
four 2K offers. Earliest to latest.
Window width
Difficulty is only the window. Wider is a slow base and a high
rating; narrower is a quick release, contested.
Timing offset
Shifts the target. Your console and TV add a delay this page
cannot see, so absolute offset does not carry over between setups
— leave it at zero unless you already know your number. It moves
your bias and leaves your consistency untouched.

Early sits left, late sits right. A tight cluster off centre is a different problem from a scattered one.
